I put a 8-port gigaswitch in my entertainment to serve the TV, BluRay player, Seagate media server, Sat dish receiver box, my DVR / DVD burner. and a 2TB HDD back-up system for three networked 'putters. Six conventional Cat6 cables + the power cable for the switch and the switch positioning was determined by the stiffness of the cables -- the tail wagging the dog effect -- and NOT where I wanted it. I ordered a couple of 5-pack 7-footer SlimRun cables, and they were a wonderful solution, and very easy to route through holes and around corners, and are relaxed enough that my switch stays at the place and angle that I set it."
