The Society’s Young Explorer Program awards the next generation of Explorers who are using their voices and talents to implement innovative solutions in their communities and beyond. Explorers like…
• Young Explorer Soren Goldsmith, a conservation photographer and storyteller. By utilizing custom-built camera traps, he captures the elusive wildlife of New England’s cities and salt marshes, helping communities and policymakers form connections with critical yet often overlooked habitats.
• Young Explorer Brigitta Gunawan, an ocean-climate advocate from Indonesia whose work focuses on marine education and coral reef restoration. Working with local communities, Brigitta is restoring coral habitats, engaging youth through dive-based learning experiences, and producing immersive 360° media to connect broader audiences with ocean conservation.
• Young Explorer AnaLu Arevalo, who started her journey with the Society in 2021 by leading a project to promote bat appreciation and conservation through education in local communities in northern Guatemala. Now, AnaLu is a Peer Champion, mentoring our newest cohort of Young Explorers.
By documenting the wonder of our world, including its beauty, mystery and the threats it faces, our Explorers of all ages are inspiring people to care and act on behalf of our planet and its people.
