Holiday travel isn’t for the faint of heart. Whether it’s a flight delay or—worse—a cancellation, the unexpected can, and often does, happen. While you can’t control travel disruptions, having a few essentials in your carry-on may help reduce stress when life doesn’t go according to plan. We’ve got a few suggestions on what to pack (see below) and expert tips on how to get a refund, rebook, or secure a spot in an airport lounge to wait out the delay. |

While you may already have one in your check-in suitcase, we recommend attaching an Apple AirTag to your carry-on as well. The reason? Airlines will sometimes ask you to check in your carry-on at the gate if the flight is fully booked and they expect to run out of overhead bin space. The chance of this happening if you are rebooked to a different flight is high. |

Sleeping at the airport is no easy task, but sometimes you have to find a quiet spot to curl up and wait out a flight delay. The ergonomic design of this travel pillow provides full neck and chin support, preventing your head from bobbing or tilting sideways. |

The silk fabric used to make this mask is thicker than most, making it more durable. It’s also buttery soft, breathable, and as smooth as glass—all of which contribute to a comfortable and cooling experience for resting your eyes, even at the airport. |

Packing a change of clothing is always a good idea, but comfort is key when you’re facing long waits at the airport. These sweats are made from a breathable and buttery-soft blend of modal, cotton, and polyester, and are lined with fleece. They're also available in men’s sizes. |

The Kindle Scribe is a great way to fill time until your next flight because it’s essentially an e-reader and a notebook, so you can read, scribble, draw, take notes, and journal. The updated version is AI-enabled so it can transform handwritten notes into text and summarize them. |

This pair of open-ear earphones uses active and inactive noise-cancellation technology to help deliver custom results. It’s also relatively easy to pair them with other devices, and take clear phone calls via the built-in microphone. They’ll last about six hours before you need to recharge them. |

It’s always a good idea to reduce the amount of liquids you carry while traveling. These toothpaste tablets work just as well as the real thing but come in a compact, plastic-free package. |

You may use an electric toothbrush at home, but when you travel it’s best to use a toothbrush that saves space. This one folds and is made with soft charcoal-infused bristles. |

These multifunctional face wipes are handy, especially if you don’t want to pack an entire skincare set. They help clean, exfoliate, and hydrate your skin, and they’re individually wrapped so they won’t leak in your bag. You may also want to consider some deodorant wipes—like these from Lume, since taking a shower at the airport is rarely an option. |
