We all sleep every week – but only this week is National Sleep Awareness Week (aka the perfect excuse to turn down last-minute plans in favor of calling it a night).
Look, we’ll be honest: we’re obsessed with sleep. You’re shocked, I’m sure, but as bedding experts, we like to consider ourselves extremely well-informed on the subject. So if you’ve ever wondered what waking up feeling actually well-rested might be like, we have thoughts:
- Stay consistent: Try waking up and falling asleep around the same time every day.
- Stay comfortable: Good sleep starts with good basics – make sure your pillows and mattress are keeping your body in alignment.
- Stay unstimulated: Avoid late-in-the-day caffeine, and swap your phone for a book.
- Stay cool: Your body temp drops at night; so breathable sheets, like linen and percale, help you fall asleep.
- Stay focused: Still up? Get out of bed, do something relaxing, and climb back in when you’re sleepy.
On that last note…we’re big advocates for turning your bedroom into a sleep sanctuary – leave the laptop out of it, and make your bed as enticing as possible with fluffy quilts or a soft throw.
