Hope you had a lovely week. As always, I’m going to Wrap-Up this week’s best happenings for your 60-second reading pleasure.
If Kirby had her way, we’d probably only sell
Chardonnay. Doesn't sound all that bad actually... This is the latest in her long line of Chardy obsessions. Out of Queensland’s Granite Belt. Easy on the oak. Big on grapefruit, lemon and butter.
Do as Kirby does.I’ve watched these
bottles disappear fast enough to know better than to sit on it. Every release seems to get
snapped up quicker than the last. Cool climate, serious mineral drive, made by someone who’s far more interested in what’s happening in the vineyard than showing off in the winery. A
master of his trade.A tidy little
Italian haul landed this week. I’d argue some of the best drinking from the boot isn’t coming from the usual suspects. One
reviving the volcanic soils just outside Rome. Another comes from a family estate rebuilt after World War II
wiped it out. And one producer giving the Italians
a run for their money. Catch on before the rest do.
Only
12 producers in the world grow this grape, and after trying it I’m wondering why. Floral, peppery, bright red fruit and acid for days. A weird little crossover between Nebb and Pinot.
Very into it.
This is a
carefree Pinot if I’ve ever seen one. It's bright and juicy. Everyone’ll like it.
