Set against the dramatic landscape of the Nariño department in southern Colombia, the Federación Abades continues to raise the bar for growing and processing exceptional coffee.
Remarkably complex, yet very approachable, we're excited to welcome a new crop of Colombia Huayku to the menu. This year's lot is pure harmony with lush notes of syrupy black cherry, rich dark chocolate, and buttery toffee.

Named Huayku after the Quechua word for the region's diverse, striking landscape, Colombia Huayku is a single-origin we look forward to every year.
The producers contributing to Huayku have been working together since 2011. In 2017, they formalized their partnership by establishing Federación Abades, which continues to connect smallholder producers in their community.

Just outside the town of Samaniego, multi-generational coffee producers grow coffee cherries for the Huayku lot at elevations ranging from 1,850 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The high-altitude microclimate—shaped by the convergence of three mountain ranges—creates optimal conditions for growing exceptional coffee. After harvest, members deliver their coffee to the federación's mill and quality-control lab, which they built in 2023, for careful evaluation.
We've been purchasing coffee from this community of producers since 2013. And when in season, Huayku shines as a single origin coffee and as a vital component in some of our blends. Carefully selected for its balance, complexity, and clarity in the cup, this year's lot of Huayku is better than ever.
