Championing the next wave of storytellers is in our DNA, and at the 2025 Festival, 36 feature films by first-time directors will premiere. Spanning across multiple sections, from the U.S. Dramatic Competition to NEXT presented by Adobe and Premieres, these projects range from Omaha, a story about a family’s cross-country journey after tragedy strikes, to Seeds, a documentary on generational Black farmers, and Never Get Busted!, a true crime docuseries centered on a narcotics officer who called out dirty cops.
