Hi,
Let’s get to know The Feed HPT athlete, Lionel Sanders.
We proudly provide nutritional support to Lionel in his quest for IRONMAN wins and wellness. He’s brutally honest, often brash and unapologetic, making him uniquely endearing to fans.
Addict to 🚵 IRONMAN: The Lionel Sanders’ Story
Lionel's path to IRONMAN was anything but usual.
Lionel started in sports at age four, but fell into drugs and alcohol at the end of high school. This downward spiral eventually led to dropping out of college a few years later.
His self-proclaimed rock bottom included visual and auditory hallucinations, social phobias, depression, and paranoia.
Fortunately, Lionel returned to running in 2009. After only a month, he registered for IRONMAN Louisville. Ten months later, Lionel became an IRONMAN.
IRONMAN to 🏆 Champion
Earning IRONMAN status is an extraordinary achievement. But Lionel had outlandish goals.
The winner of the 2009 Louisville IRONMAN broke the tape a full two hours ahead of Lionel. But this provided motivation that grew into a dream of becoming a professional triathlete.
Lionel achieved that dream in 2013, competing in his first professional triathlon in Muskoka, Ontario. Fittingly, he won in his debut, in his home country.
Lionel dedicated himself to his craft, which paid off with IRONMAN wins, championships and records.
Lionel, The Feed, and The Fourth Dimension of IRONMAN
At 37, Lionel can’t rely on pure physical ability and grit. His dogged determination improved his swimming, running, and cycling. And now it was time to apply it to the fourth discipline of IRONMAN - nutrition.
With his partnership with The Feed, crucial discoveries about his fueling and supporting nutrition resulted in tangible results.
From the ability to process 100-150 grams of carbohydrates per hour to supporting recovery and the daily tasks of living, Lionel and The Feed created the Lionel Sanders Pack. This can help you on your journey to wins, fitness, or anything in between.
