Hi,
If there’s one product I discovered this year that I’ll be using for years to come, it’s this—and it’s not directly tied to workouts (though it kind of is). I'm excited to share it with me, it's going to be a bit unexpected.
Set the scene: it’s December, you’re at a holiday party, you have a couple of drinks (because hey, life’s about balance), but there’s that little voice in your head worrying about tomorrow’s workout.
Sound familiar? I’ve been there too.
That’s why I’m so excited about ZBiotics Pre-Alcohol Probiotic. I first heard about it from Ryan Roddy, the founder of Kyoku, and I had to try it. Honestly, it felt too good to be true. But after testing it myself—let’s just say the dreaded “third glass of wine” no longer derails my morning runs, rides, or gym sessions.
It’s been a game-changer for me, taking the guilt (and pressure) out of social evenings. I even sent a case to my college kids, and it was gone in 24 hours. Safe to say, they’re fans too.
Now, I debated whether The Feed should sell ZBiotics. Would people think I’m promoting drinking (I’m not)? Would it feel unrelated to performance (I think it’s very much related)? In the end, I decided to bring it on because I genuinely love this product—and so do the athletes I’ve shared it with.
Here’s how it works:
It’s a tiny vial (basically flavorless) that you drink before your first sip of alcohol. It’s packed with a probiotic engineered to break down acetaldehyde—the bad stuff that builds up when you drink and leaves you feeling less than stellar the next day.
Does it work if you have more than a few glasses of wine? Yes, in my experience I've tested it with more drinks than I care to share, and I was careful to still stay hydrated, but was able to get up and have a full on training sessions (which shocked me).
How to use it:
Take it before you start drinking (15 minutes ahead is ideal, but even a few minutes works). Forgot? No worries—take it as soon as you can, and it’ll still help for whatever comes next. One vial does the trick.
Does it work?
For me? 100%. For my friends, family, and Feed Athletes I’ve shared it with? Same story. It’s not about drinking more—it’s about staying on track with your training while enjoying your social life.
The cost?
It's one of those things where you pay for what you get. It's not cheap at $9 per shot when you get the 12 pack. But I rationalize it that is the price of one drink or these days even half a glass of wine! I struggled with the cost, but I've convinced myself it is an investment in my training and I love to be able to have fun and skit the stress of messing up my training.
Give it a try, and let me know what you think.
Just curious: Get the 6 pack
Ready for the Holidays (and New Years): Get the 12 pack
I’m curious to hear how it works for you!
Cheers (literally),
- Matt

P.s. Be careful I find half of my box always goes to my dinner companions so I now stock up more than just what I need.
