It's so cool to hear stories from friends and family about witnessing a phone in the wild or overhearing strangers talking about it. We love getting asked "what is that?" when someone sees the phone. And of course, the inbound notes we receive are the most are humbling and inspiring part of this whole project. Here are some examples:
"I have never felt more freedom and clarity since before owning a smart phone. I am not connected to the world in the best way. My friends/family can reach me, but I'm not "doomscrolling" all day. I have been SO much more productive. I feel like I have more time in the day to get whatever I need done. I am much more attentive to my kids and husband (and vice versa for my husband) and actually have time to play. Overall 10/10 so far and we don't see ourselves going back to smart phones, ever."
"As soon as I discovered this phone last December I pre-ordered. I then waited 9 months to get it. But I'm now 3 weeks in and it's exactly what I'd hoped for. It's not a cheap phone and if you Google it you'll find plenty of people scoffing at the cost of a phone that can't 'do much'. But they're looking at it wrong. My attention is arguably the most valuable resource I have — and trillions of dollars are spent trying to capture it, monetise it, hijack it, fragment it. And often succeeding. 3 weeks with the Light Phone and the most noticeable thing is all the 'micro moments' I've suddenly got back. Waiting for a coffee I ordered and letting my mind wander. Taking my kids to the park down the road and actually watching them play. Brushing my teeth. Going to the loo. It makes you realise how invasive our tech can be…So, I'm thrilled there are companies like Light trying to make tech to help us reclaim what it means to be human — even the boring bits."
Much Love,
Light
