We’ve been getting a lot of reasonable questions about the Cybertruck we’re giving away this year: is it actually plated in 24 karat gold?
The answer is yes, and there’s a story behind it.
We were always planning on having the Cybertruck in this year’s sweepstakes — we had wanted to do something special in our 4th year.
Then, our friend Zack at the popular tech YouTube channel JerryRigEverything tweeted something along the lines of “Does anyone in Utah have a Cybertruck I can use for a project?”
We were obviously intrigued (and our truck happened to be in Salt Lake City).
A few emails and 2 weeks later, and Zack had created the first-ever 24 Karat Gold-Plated Cybertruck (there’s over $60,000 worth of gold on it).
I wish I was scientific enough to explain the very technical oxidation process, but luckily you can see the entire thing documented yourself on Zack’s channel.
Now, we’re going to give it away to someone (for free).
