Hey pet parent,
Today we're sharing the story of Stella, a 1 year old puppy from Boise, Idaho.
It's a bit heartbreaking, but thanks to the kindness of strangers, Stella is going to return home to grateful parents.
Two nights ago, Stella went missing.
It's every pet parent's fear, because after 5 hours of searching, they couldn't find her. That is, until they got the news...
Stella was hit by a car.
The impact was so great it knocked the license off, but the driver didn't stop.
Had it been left up to the person who hit her, Stella wouldn't have made it. But a kind stranger saw it happen and decided to act to save the puppy.
They rushed Stella to a vet, who was able to contact the pet parents.
But then they got the other news we all know is coming... it was a hard hit. It requires multiple surgeries. The estimated cost will be $8,000 - $10,000 (a good reminder to have pet insurance, it could have covered this).
For the second time in a week, Stella will be saved by the kindness of others. Dani, the mom, posted on GoFundMe and within 24 hours raised over $5,700.
Alpha Paw, since our founding, has contributed to pet causes and shelters. A portion of our profits has been used to give goods and funding to animal shelters.
Today, we gave to support Stella's recovery, and we'll share the link below in case you do too.
But first, we normally don't give to GoFundMe because, while we love stories of people helping animals and want to be supportive, we also know there are others who will take advantage of that.
The platform doesn't provide a lot of transparency into who is raising, what is authentic and real, and what is not.
We looked into Stella's case, but if you search animals, you'll find a lot in need. It's unfortunately hard to tell who is genuine.
This year, we launched Super Paw Society, so that Alpha Paw can do more to support animals and those trying to help them. If you belong to Super Paw Society, we want to say thanks, and that because of you we were able to help Stella and her family today.
We will continue giving to shelters, since helping a shelter benefits a whole community and all the animals in it.
Lastly, Stella's story highlights the risks of being responsible for our fur babies. Especially younger ones, who want to run and sniff and see the world.
If you're ever on the other end of a story like this, where you accidentally hit a pet... stop the car. Take them to a vet. Do your best.
Animals dart in front of cars. Nobody would blame you. But you are responsible if you drive off.
❤️ Take care of your pets, and if you see an accident happen, be the kind stranger. World needs more of you.
