In the early days of Best Made—being the small “axe company” we were—I had a hard time finding anyone who would sell us product liability insurance. So instead I branded our axes with four words: Courage, Compassion, Grace, and Fortitude (C.C.G.F.).
I wanted these four words imprinted on our customers before they swung a very sharp and powerful tool. For better or worse, my thinking was that this would be my insurance policy. Eventually those words found their way onto other Best Made products, and were woven into the fabric of our fledgling company. Thinking about our weekly newsletter, and what to write to you today, I just kept coming back to these four words. I want to share them again—and float them back out into a world that could use them.
