Having not done physical retail in so long, let alone in such a faraway place, I went into our pop-up last weekend in Andes, NY, with few expectations and a high degree of trepidation. We opened our doors on the heels of a big storm. The snowfall was double digits, and the temps were single. But we did it. And boy, did we do it.
Last weekend was a beautiful reminder of just how much I miss brick-and-mortar retail. Anyone who visited our shops in Tribeca and Los Angeles can attest that Best Made belongs in the real world. There's something magical about having all our products in one space, to be able to hold an axe, try a jacket on, talk shop, listen to music, and sip a whiskey. Most of all, I miss the people and the community that come with a shop. I crossed paths with so many wonderful people over the years in those spaces. And I crossed paths with so many wonderful people in Andes last weekend.
Thank you to everyone who came out. Thank you to The Hunting Tavern Museum for hosting us. Thank you to the people of Andes. Let's make this a regular thing.
P.S.- if you have ideas or tips for the next Best Made pop-up, shoot me an email (peter@bestmadeco.com).
