Before the first stitch, before the first cut, the choice of fabric establishes whether a garment will last three years or thirty-three. Our Field Pant and Service Jacket are engineered with the same foundation: a Japanese high-density cotton twill, which might just be the most "Best Made" fabric we've ever deployed.
As you can see, out of the box this fabric has highs and lows, it has texture and real character. Made in Fukuyama City, each yarn is sulfur dyed, giving the fabric deep, rich colors. Over time, these colors fade gently, creating a unique patina and surface texture that adds even more character.
The dyed yarns are then woven in Okayama, the epicenter of Japanese cotton fabrication. They form a high-density twill with a slightly higher twist in the warp yarns. This reinforces the weave and adds exceptional durability. We recently put this fabric to the test in remote Colorado, and can attest that its high-density weave resists abrasion and tearing, making it one of the most comfortable and durable fabrics we've ever offered.
