Tell us about your nutrition when getting ready for summer, specifically shredding season. "My nutrition plan this summer is focused on leaning out. To achieve this, I’ll be prioritizing high protein intake—targeting 1 to 1.2 grams per pound of body weight (approximately 250 to 300 grams per day). I’ll also be incorporating intermittent fasting and following a diet that leans toward the carnivore approach, with about 80% of my calories coming from animal-based sources." |

How does your workout regimen change with warmer weather? "I don’t make many major changes to my training during the warmer months, but I do find myself walking significantly more. It’s a small but valuable boost for fat loss, overall fitness, and recovery. This year, I’m also hoping to pick up a new activity—learning tennis with my wife." |

What changes in your routine when you’re looking to lean out? "When I’m focused on leaning out, I get the best results by reducing my overall training volume while maintaining high intensity—pushing each movement close to failure. I also incorporate more enjoyable fitness activities like long walks, hikes, and sports. I don’t track these in a structured way, but they add to my overall activity level, support recovery, and make the process more fun and sustainable." |

How do you stay fit on the go? There are three key things I rely on to stay on track when I’m traveling: - Steak: "When I’m on the road, I usually don’t have the time or flexibility to stick to my regular diet. So when I’m eating out, my go-to choice is steak—lots of it. Dining out can throw off your goals, but a steak helps me load up on protein and stay on track."
- Beef Jerky: "This is the ultimate travel snack. It’s tasty, convenient, high in protein, and available pretty much everywhere. Whether I’m at the airport or on the road, it’s an easy win."
- Don’t Stress: "I’m not trying to be a rigid, macro-tracking machine. I want to stay fit—but also enjoy life. Whether it’s a bodyweight workout in a hotel or finding a cool local gym, I make it work. A short break from routine won’t derail your progress. As Theodore Roosevelt said: “Do what you can, where you are, with what you have.”

Tell us your five summer essentials. - Sunburn: "This might sound like a joke, but I’m as pale as printer paper and still love being outdoors—so it’s rare you’ll find me without at least a minor burn during the summer."
- Grill: "Summer is BBQ season, and nothing beats throwing a steak on the grill. It’s simple, satisfying, and packed with protein."
- Iced coffee: "love coffee in all forms. I’ll still drink it hot in the summer, but a cold iced coffee? That’s hard to beat."
- Electrolytes: "I used to think they were overhyped—until I moved to Texas. Now, electrolytes make a huge difference in how I feel and recover during the hotter months. They're a must-have for me in the summer."
- My family: "I know—it’s a bit of a cheesy answer. But with my daughters out of school, summer becomes prime family time. I try to soak up every moment with my wife and girls while they’re not, you know, "serving time" in school all day."
