Okay, we’ll stop there. Mostly because love is not all that we can give to you! We’re bringing back First Saturdays tomorrow with activities, talks, and music you won’t want to miss. And then we’re hosting incredible events all month long—from Brooklyn Talks to Valentine’s Day Burlesque.
On February 28, our exhibition Breaking the Mold: Brooklyn Museum at 200 opens. It’s a celebration of two centuries of groundbreaking creativity. It’s also a love letter to our community. We love you, Brooklyn.
Mark your calendars
First Saturday: Toward Joy
Saturday, February 1, 5–11 pm
Celebrate Black artists who have shaped art, music, film, and other cultural expressions that define what it means to be American. This First Saturday also celebrates Toward Joy: New Frameworks for American Art, a transformative reinstallation of the American Art galleries. The evening is brimming with music, art and art-making, and thoughtful conversations—including with artist Titus Kaphar and actor André Holland.
Always free, but you’ve got to register first.
Drink and Draw: Valentine’s Day Burlesque
Friday, February 14, 6:30–9:30 pm
Bring a friend, a valentine, or yourself for a special edition of Drink and Draw celebrating art and love. Sip a specialty drink and sketch models from Frolic: Black Burlesque Revue, hosted by Foxy Belle Afriq. Plus, enjoy performances by some of Brooklyn’s finest burlesque performers!
Brooklyn Talks: Bisa Butler and Barbara Bullard
Thursday, February 20, 7–9 pm
Twenty years after her death, reflect on the legacy of Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm in a conversation with cultural producer Barbara Bullard and artist Bisa Butler, whose portrait of Chisholm is featured in Toward Joy: New Frameworks for American Art.
Nourish your creativity. Registration is open for the spring 2025 Studio Art Program, and we’ve got spots left for those interested in photography or printmaking.
Over 10 classes, you’ll work with professional teaching artists, develop new skills, and create your own art. Each semester closes with a student exhibition in our Education Gallery.
What are you waiting for? All experience levels are welcome!
