Oliver Jeffers:
Life at Sea
September 19, 2025–April 26, 2026
WAVE hello to a brand-new exhibition! 🌊
Bring the family to the Brooklyn Museum tomorrow, September 20, 12–4 pm, for a free opening celebration. At 1 pm, Oliver Jeffers will be here for a reading and book signing. It’ll be a whale of a time! 🐳
In Life at Sea, Jeffers, an award-winning artist, bestselling author, and climate advocate, invites visitors of all ages to an underwater world.
This immersive installation begins as a sparse seascape—and we need your help to bring it to life! You’ll transform the deep-blue scene by creating your own aquatic animals.
Together, we’ll trace the effects of climate change and imagine a more abundant future for us all.
Drop-In Workshops: Life at Sea
Saturdays–Sundays, September 21, October 18–19, November 15–16, 12–4 pm
Help expand this underwater world! During these drop-in workshops, bring the family to create colorful creatures and structures. Each afternoon centers on designing new ocean life, from coral to 3D fish, to add to Life at Sea.
Brooklyn Talks: Oliver Jeffers and Mary Annaïse Heglar
Monday, October 6, 6–7:30 pm
An author and visual artist working across painting, bookmaking, illustration, performance, and sculpture, Jeffers animates his practice with curiosity and humor. To celebrate his latest children’s book, I’m Very Busy, he is joined by fellow author Mary Annaïse Heglar to discuss why the ocean is key to caring for our planet.
Your support makes our exhibitions and programming possible!
If you and your family love the Brooklyn Museum, would you consider becoming a Member? You’ll make art, you’ll make memories, and you’ll help make sure the Museum continues to be a place of art and creativity for all.
