Fall Fête: Monet and Venice and Seydou Keïta
Thursday, October 9, 8–11 pm
Journey from Italy to Mali as we celebrate the opening of Monet and Venice and Seydou Keïta: A Tactile Lens. This special evening features live music, artist activations, and late-night access to the galleries.
Don’t miss DJ sets by Chmba and Amber Valentine, music by kora player Mahrïama-SpicyKhasso, and dance and drum performances presented in partnership with the Cumbe Center for African and Diaspora Dance. The lineup also includes drag artist Dollar Slice, mezzo-soprano Melisa Bonetti Luna, and more. Plus, enjoy artist-created photo booths inspired by Monet’s and Keïta’s work, along with a specialty cocktail and food from neighborhood staple Cafe Rue Dix.
dapperQ Presents Ten

Celebrate a decade of New York Fashion Week’s largest LGBTQIA+ fashion show, presented by queer style platform dapperQ. Kick off the night with a happy hour hosted by Henrietta Hudson, New York City’s longest-standing brick-and-mortar lesbian bar, and shop featured and local designers before the runway showcase. The presentation includes new designs by ALEGRÍA, BoiPKG, DYKEMINT, Zoe Grinfeld, Hesta, Soid Studios New York by José González, and Transguy Supply.
Art History Happy Hour: Ruckus Manhattan

Grab a beverage and settle in for Art History Happy Hour, featuring short, informative lectures that highlight our special exhibitions and collections. This month, we explore the setting, history, and humor of Red Grooms, Mimi Gross, and The Ruckus Construction Co.: Excerpts from “Ruckus Manhattan.” Enjoy presentations by Kimberli Gant, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum; burlesque and drag producer Henrietta Bagazonzya; Ryan Purcell, Professor of History at Sarah Lawrence College; and writer Judith E. Stein.
Opening Celebration: Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea

Bring the family to celebrate the opening of Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea! Take a deep dive into this interactive exhibition and help expand its underwater world by creating colorful creatures and structures. Oliver Jeffers and Mary Annaïse Heglar

Dive into our interactive exhibition Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea during an evening of conversation and storytelling. An author and visual artist working across painting, bookmaking, illustration, performance, and sculpture, Oliver Jeffers animates his practice with curiosity and humor. To celebrate his latest children’s book, I’m Very Busy, Jeffers is joined by author Mary Annaïse Heglar to discuss why the ocean is key to caring for our planet.

Experience a Saturday afternoon performance by Falsa, an NYC-based Sufi musical ensemble. Rooted in Qawwali and the South Asian diasporic experience, Falsa reimagines 14th-century devotional traditions through transcultural jazz, improvisation, and world music. Featuring Sufi vocals, Carnatic violin, Hindustani tabla, Bass VI, harmonium, and drums, Falsa’s sound explores longing, presence, and joy.
