Did you know that the average American uses 82 gallons of water every day? That’s the equivalent of 624 plastic water bottles — every single day.
For a long time, I never thought about how much water we consumed.
After graduating high school, I picked up a part-time job, and would listen to podcasts while cleaning. One day, I stumbled upon an episode about charity: water that left me in awe. That evening, I went home and couldn’t stop researching. Hundreds of millions of people living without life’s most basic necessity.
Today, I work on our Brand Partnerships team, helping companies turn their products and services into clean water for people around the world.
And as I reflect on all I’ve learned, this Mother Teresa quote comes to mind: “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
That’s what this work is: millions of small actions creating something far bigger than any one of us.
This Earth Month, my hope is that you’re encouraged by the stones you cast. Maybe it’s reading more about the water crisis or sharing about it with a friend. Or maybe it’s signing up for The Spring or funding a water project through your company. Whatever it is, remember: every action, no matter how small, creates a ripple that moves further than you may ever know.
