Hi friend!
It’s Kelsey here and I’m still trying to wrap my brain around the fact that it’s March already. It’s been almost five months since I became a mom to the most incredible little human. Parenthood has brought unparalleled joy, more than a few sleepless nights, and a whole lot of love. As I navigate this beautiful journey, I'm reminded of the importance of mental wellness, both for new parents and everyone in our amazing Doughp community.
From mindfulness in the midst of baby giggles to finding balance in the chaos, I'm excited to share some of what has helped me along the way. Let's create a space where we can support each other, share experiences, and reinforce the idea that taking care of our minds is just as essential as savoring a scoop of your favorite cookie dough.
Here’s what has helped my mental health the most as a new mom:
- Awesome Mom Friends: Surround yourself with moms who lift you up, support you, and keep telling you that you’re crushing it! Ditch the mom friends that drain you or make you fill up with mom guilt. You’re doing great and you need to find a community that can celebrate you.
- Own Your Attitude: A good day or a bad day is really decided by you. Poop blow out all over their outfit? What if you laughed instead of getting mad? I’m starting to realize there’s no mess you can’t clean up, I just had to let go of my desired schedule and go with the flow (even if it’s covered in baby poop).
- Find The Time: Work with your partner to help you find some YOU time. Go out and enjoy an hour (even 30 min!) by yourself. No one needing you, crying at you, tugging on you. Maybe it’s a workout, maybe it’s a fancy coffee drink, maybe it’s literally just sitting in a parking lot somewhere. Just find the time for you.
Life gets busy, and sometimes it's easy to forget to prioritize our mental well-being. Join me in making March a month of self-reflection, community, and of course, enjoying some sweeeeet moments with Doughp! Here's to all of the flavors life has to offer!
*hugs*
