This week we started rolling out new updates to Google Maps to make it even more helpful. Now, you’ll be able to ask Maps for inspiration curated with Gemini — for example, you could ask for “things to do with friends tonight” when you’re trying to come up with plans. Additionally, new features will help take the stress out of driving, like getting recommended stops for your drive that you can add to your route with just a tap, and seeing lanes, crosswalks and road signs more clearly on the map. And we’re expanding Immersive View to 150 cities and adding new details, like showing you where to park. |

October was a big month for AI here at Google: Google DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis and John Jumper were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their groundbreaking work on AlphaFold 2, an AI system that predicts the structures for nearly all proteins known to science. On the product front, we made it easier to find what you’re looking for in Shopping, announced that all Chromebooks will now come with built-in AI, introduced new ways to Search — like using video in Lens — and more. |
