This community building story from Nick Billock:
This guy. He turns 77 next month, doesn’t own one item from GORUCK but shows up to just about anything my wife and I schedule... mostly our monthly ruck-n-brews and the occasional challenge. He lost his wife years ago and thrives on community and serving at veterans’ funerals locally via his local VFW. If not for GORUCK, I would not have ever met him. Last night, I tossed out an invite to anyone who wanted to join me on a 7mi, single track up-n-down trail ruck. There he was. It turned out to be his longest ruck ever at 7.2 miles. Thanks, Jason, for starting this movement. My wife and I are forever grateful.

Jason here. This is community building at its finest. Emily and I are grateful to ruck shoulder to shoulder with all of you.
At GORUCK, we’ve never been very good at performance or digital marketing. We’re still pretty lousy at Google and Meta — and now AI. What we are great at is building community and getting people to ruck together.
We need your help.
A quick ask:
- If you know someone who might want to get stronger, healthier, and more connected — invite them to join your crew for a ruck. Tell them to bring whatever bag they have. Or, if you’ve got two, let them borrow one. That’s how this starts.
- If you (or someone you know) is looking for the best gear and weight to ruck, we’re running a Sale in honor of George Washington’s Birthday — today. It’s the best time to get under the weight and get started.
Please forward this to one person. You know who it is.
Thanks,
Jason
