Produce Parties, the magazine that celebrates peak seasonal produce, is looking for contributors for their newest issue. The theme for this one is Alliums (onions, garlic, chives, leeks—you get the idea), and much like how we approach topics with Gossamer, the Produce Parties team is looking for writers and visual artists to explore all types of connections to the subject. And for those not inclined to submit anything, may I suggest picking up their Tomato or Squash issue? You can never buy too many print magazines, and supporting them means supporting a whole creative economy that sorely needs help (and money). Email submissions@produceparties.com and/or buy an issue here.

I’ve long been a personal fan of Sonder’s Space Crystals. I maintain there’s no better party favor than pulling out a few packets of the THC-infused pop rocks (though homemade jello shots are a close second.). But we just started stocking their Aurora Berryalis flavor, which tops out at 4mg of hemp-derived THC per packet—a much more manageable dose for a lower tolerance consumer like me. Lately, I’ve been treating myself to a post-dinner pack. They’re relatively quick to hit, and also come with 8mg of CBD, which leaves me just mellow enough to fall asleep easily a couple hours later.

Am I going to buy this? No. Do I know some keyboard-obsessives, or “clackheads,” who are probably salivating over it? Yes. So, if you’re in the latter camp or happen to know someone who is, this seems like a fun (and functional) collector’s item for the right person.

This is an early alert for an extremely prescient book by Defector’s Megan Greenwell, whose name you might remember from a recent High Praise when David seconded her piece on regional art museums. Earlier this week, Greenwell’s book, Bad Company: Private Equity and the Death of the American Dream, became available for pre-order and I highly recommend joining me in advance purchasing a copy, ideally from Bookshop.org. (What better way to thumb your nose at private equity than by buying a book from an independent bookshop?) Greenwell’s an extraordinary writer with firsthand experience of the P.E. playbook: she worked at Gizmodo Media Group when it was bought by Great Hill Partners. With Bad Company, Greenwell is putting a human face on the private equity problem, sharing the real world stories of a Toys “R” Us worker, a rural doctor, a local newspaper journalist, and an affordable housing organizer whose lives—and livelihoods—have been upended by these soulless financial firms. For a little more behind-the-scenes and present day relevance, you should also read Greenwell’s Q&A with Mother Jones on “How Elon Musk and His DOGE Goons Are Following the Private Equity Playbook.”

I’ve written about Weed’dmultiple times here before, so forgive me if this all sounds familiar. But the Italian cannabis design studio has teamed up with Eckhaus Latta and Gotham to bring you this Cheetah Bong. Again, like the keyboard above, I’ll be straight up and say that this specific look might not fit in with my general décor, but I have no doubt that it’s 100% up someone else’s alley. I mean, I guess this could be the new “me” for 2025 and I could get all into animal prints in my everyday life, but I think I’m still a few years off from a full blown mid-life crisis.

This one is for all my four-eyed friends. If you’re in the market for new specs, I recently got a pair from British eyewear import Cubitts and could not be happier about it. Cubitts sits squarely in between super high-end (and super high-cost) custom eyewear like Jacques Marie Mage and the more mass market Warby Parkers of the world by offering hundreds of reasonably-priced styles, each of which come in up to five sizes. As someone with a relatively narrow face and an aesthetic love for typically oversize frames, it was a delight to be able to pick my glasses frame-first, and then find the size best suited to my face. You can also go as far as getting them made-to-measure, or custom design your own entirely bespoke pair from scratch. (That’s next on my list.)
