Every three years, the prestigious Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques holds a private, invite-only world championship. In 2018, a young magician named Eric Chien took home the grand prize in close-up magic with a wordless, six-minute act that resulted in a raucous standing ovation from his fellow competitors. If you have even a passing interest in magic, I highly recommend this Texas Monthly profile of Chien from the lead up to this year’s competition. (Spoiler alert: he didn’t win. In Chien’s defense, only a handful of magicians have achieved a repeat win since the competition began in 1948.). The new act, Memories, isn’t yet publicly available, but I’m eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see him live someday.

This one comes straight from the heart, which happens to be most directly accessed through my stomach. After several years of roaming pop-ups, chef Alan Delgado, who makes what are absolutely some of the best burritos in New York City, has officially opened his own permanent location. Los Burritos Juárez specializes in luscious stew-and-bean-filled burritos from the Juárez-El Paso border, each wrapped in the softest, stretchiest flour tortilla you’ve ever had, probably because it was made by hand right in front of you. The Fort Greene-based spot is open Thursday through Sunday, 12 PM to 8 PM. I will undoubtedly be seeing you there.

There’s something really satisfying about discovering an object that’s exactly what you imagined but didn’t know existed. For us, that’s the Judd Joint Case by AMITHA. In both our professional and our personal lives, we’ve spent an unreasonable amount of time thinking about what the perfect “adult” joint case would look like: minimalist but not too spare, slim but not too small, and sleek but not too flashy. And we’ve finally found it. The Judd Joint Case by AMITHA feels like the perfect accessory for grown-up cannabis consumers. It can hold up to 12 joints and be personalized with your name, initials, or any other very short thing you might want it to say. But if the case is what you take with you, then the Judd Storage Box, its larger and heavier counterpart, is what you come home to. It’s the kind of functional art piece that makes your coffee table, wall unit, or nightstand feel instantly more intentional. Crafted by hand, it has the same clean lines and elevated aesthetic as the Joint Case, just scaled for your home setup. We’re partial to the brass version of both, but you can’t go wrong with the silver either. Each piece obviously makes a perfect gift for the fan of high design in your life, but dare we suggest you actually treat yourself to these gems? You deserve it.
