A long-awaited addition to our shop, Pure Beauty’s Hybrid Cigs are more or less my perfect pre-roll. Potent enough to share with friends or enjoy over the course of several sessions, these googly eye-stamped joints give me my ideal high: smooth and lifted and layered. A hit or two allows me to go about my day whether I’m cleaning, cooking, lazing, going to yoga, or hanging with friends. -VvP

If you’re not already a fan, Saturday Night Live’s resident photographer Mary Ellen Matthews is a fun follow. Matthews is responsible for probably every non-sketch SNL image you’ve seen for many years, having joined the staff in 1993, and ultimately taking over as head photographer in 1999. The highly stylized and curious celebrity portraits that appear between commercials and the show? Those are all hers. And now Matthews has a new book featuring the best of them. The Art of the SNL Portrait doesn’t come out until March, but if you preorder now, it’s like sending a gift to your future self. -DW

I didn’t mean to become a fraghead, and yet over the last year and a half, I’ve found myself increasingly enjoying the indulgence of a perfume collection. Picking out a scent to wear is a really lovely way to complete an outfit or set a tone for my day. Am I feeling energetic? Social? Mellow? Edgy and cool, or warm and intimate? This weed-inspired eau de toilette from Wenjue Lu has steam-distilled cannabis as a top note, burnt wood in the middle, and an earthy, incense-y patchouli as its base. The apothecary-style bottle and wooden topper make this a very worthwhile gift, too. -VvP

If you’re looking into growing your own cannabis but don’t know where to start, Annaboto may be just the thing you need. The tech company out of Massachusetts can help even the blackest thumb look like, uh, Alan Titchmarsh (had to google famous gardeners), and do so in style. The Annaboto is a self-contained grow unit that does all the hard work for you while looking like a living room light. Basically, all you need to do is pop in a seed, add some water (and a plant solution), and hit a button. Before you know it, you’ll have more weed than you know what to do with. Right now the company is offering 40% off everything, so it’s a good time to get into it. -DW

This short but captivating podcast from The New York Times revisits the life of Keiko, the captive orca made famous by Free Willy, and subsequent attempts to return him to the ocean. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and remember Keiko vividly, and yet so much of his tale was new to me. The series takes some unexpected turns, both in story and in telling, and I loved every beat of it. -VvP

If the waning daylight and drop in temperature are already affecting your mood, may I suggest checking out Olafur Eliasson’s new show, Your Psychoacoustic Light Ensemble? I’ve had the pleasure of seeing (or experiencing) a number of the Icelandic-Danish artist’s installations around the world and despite the often long lines and potential for being overhyped, they’ve rarely disappointed. Eliasson’s new exhibition at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery is not on the scale of his “event-worthy” works, but it’s still worth heading to Chelsea for, especially if you enjoy art that plays with sound and light (and especially if you’ve had an edible an hour or two beforehand). -DW
