I hadn’t heard of The Telepathy Tapes podcast until one day last week, when two people I follow on Instagram both posted effusively about it. Just a quick scroll later, and I saw several more references, this time to a New York magazine article about the podcast and the families featured on it. Out of curiosity, I decided to listen to a couple eps of the show before reading the feature, just to see what it would be like to go in blind. If you’re not familiar with the it and have the time, I recommend doing the same, as it really set the scene for writer Elizabeth Weil’s incredibly nimble, clear-eyed, and compassionate reporting. I’m not going to say too much else, but the whole experience was a vital reminder of how much need plays into our understanding of our own realities, and also how little we know about how our minds actually work.

Laundry Day founder Vic Ashley has impeccable taste, so when she introduced me to this jewelry line, I took note. By Way Of blends architectural inspiration with an organic and material softness for pieces that look like heirlooms from your elegant and ultra-chic grandmother who had a secret double life as a time-traveling spy. They’re popping up in Williamsburg later this week (May 8th to 13th) at 135 Wythe Ave, which is perfectly timed for some Mother’s Day shopping.

Speaking of Mother’s Day, whether you’re shopping for yourself or a mom in your life, make sure to get your orders in by Sunday night (tomorrow) to ensure delivery in time. Rose Los Angeles’ chef-crafted Delights always make a beautiful gift, as does an issue or two of Gossamer for some breakfast-in-bed reading. And if you’re putting together a Sunday morning tray, it could be cute to include a little bowl of 1mg Strawberry Delights with a glass of champagne, or place a pouch of Off Duty next to some fresh-squeezed orange juice, just to guarantee that special someone a genuinely relaxing day “off.”

I don’t think there’s a clothing brand I covet more than Thank You Have A Good Day. Every piece they make is sewn by hand from upcycled textiles and deadstock materials, including table linens, antique wool blankets, and French pillows, which means that almost all of their pieces are also one of a kind. The best news: they’re having an archive sale at their Tribeca atelier (15 Vestry Street) today and tomorrow, from 12 to 6 PM. Even if you don’t buy anything, I can almost guarantee you’ll leave visually inspired.

I’m a bit under the weather this week, so please forgive my short writeups and lack of imagination. I’m going to quickly put pen to paper (or finger to key) and then head back to sleep. My first pick is “To Catch a Dream” from French composer Laurent Dury’s newest album, The Art of Movement. I first became a fan of Dury’s work after discovering his 2018 album, Minimal Stories (and specifically the song, “Pointillism,” which you may also already know). If you ever wanted to feel like you’re in a French film and pretend some semi-magical thing like a clown appearing out of nowhere and handing you a red balloon could be just around the next corner, this music is for you.

I’ve written about Blue Bodega before, recommending their Dank Delights Grinder. But I recently spotted their Anthora Grinder for sale at Torches NYC and thought what a good reminder to throw it in High Praise. Obviously patterned after New York’s most famous coffee cup design, the Anthora Grinder is a fun gift or necessary tool to have around. If you like it, you should buy one. If you don’t, blame my head cold.
