✨ Hypebeast100 2024: This Year’s List of the Most Accomplished Creatives
TLDR:
Each year, a prestigious place on the Hypebeast100 list is given
out to 100 individuals who who inspired or influenced industry and
community alike. No matter if it was through design prowess, artistic
aptitude or an ability to constantly, compellingly command the
limelight, the 100 honorees all left an indelible mark on fashion and
culture — what it is and what it can be — over the last 12 months.
Why
It Matters: 2024 saw the revival of many past trends and brands, it’s seeing the end
of an era for much of global culture, and it will see the light of a new
day, in hopes for the best. Nonetheless, we continue to stand firm in
our commitment to recognize the world’s most influential creatives in
fashion and their inspiring achievements. The extraordinary minds on
this year’s Hypebeast100 have not only managed to catch the wave but
also push culture forward, and created exceptional work that has left a
lasting impression on us.

📀 The 10 Best Music Projects of 2024
TLDR:
2024 was a momentous year for music. All genres – even those that
have been reshaped or melded together – saw a stacked slate of releases
ranging from studio debuts, long-awaited returns and even some surprise
releases.
Why
It Matters: At the top of the year, Mk.gee made himself a
household name with his debut studio album Two Star & The Dream Police
followed up by ScHoolboy Q’s first album in five years BLUE LIPS.
This summer also saw
the release of Billie Eilish‘s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, while Doechii
wrapped up August with her acclaimed studio debut Alligator Bites Never
Heal. Closing out the fourth quarter came GloRilla’s impressive
long-form debut, and unexpected releases from both Tyler the Creator and
Kendrick Lamar, with their respective CHROMAKOPIA and GNX releases
becoming some of the most memorable (and most-played) LPs of the whole
year.

🫢 Is Honesty Out of Fashion?
TLDR:
Nine magazine editors, independent journalists and social media
creators weigh in on the current state of fashion criticism.
Why
It Matters: “It looked awfully painful,” The New York Times’
chief fashion critic Vanessa Friedman told Imran Ahmed of Kim
Kardashian’s extremely corseted Maison Margiela dress at this year’s Met
Gala on The Business on Fashion Podcast. “Where are all the women and
POC designers?” questioned Dazed’s fashion features director Emma
Davidson of fashion’s biggest night on the British magazine’s website.
“He is so weird,” Nicky Campbell, the deadpan social media pundit,
squinted over a green-screen image of a Burberry-boasting Barry Keoghan
climbing the museum’s steps on TikTok. “I’m obsessed with him.” The
above recount of Met Gala moments is only a bite-sized sampling of the
sprawling landscape that is fashion criticism in 2024 — and like it or
not, it’s easier than ever to engage with the industry’s lore.

🌀 Crocs Expands Echo Collection with All-New Sport Silhouette
TLDR:
Since the debut of the Echo collection two years ago, Crocs has
cemented its positioning in the sports realm through a progressive
reinterpretation of its classic DNA.
Why
It Matters: With forward-thinking sculpture and texture at
the heart of its Echo designs, the footwear brand has gone on to
introduce the Echo Storm as well as the Echo Surge silhouettes, now
adding to the lineup with a brand new slip-on alternative. Named the
Echo Wave after its curved form, the new model takes cues from
digitally-inspired sculpting to create a shape that securely hugs the
foot despite its open-back design. The waved aesthetic is further
enhanced by a rounded 5mm heel and sinuous molded lines that run across
the body in a similar style to the exoskeletal case on the original Echo
Clog. You can now shop Crocs’ Echo Wave on its website and in global
stores.
