John here.
Iβve got three things on my mind.
Fatherβs Day Weekend: This weekend, we will celebrate my Dad. My brothers and I have planned a whole day with him touring breweries in Brooklyn and finishing with a barbecue dinner. I love my Dad so much. He gives me confidence and strength. He made it possible for me to start my own business.
Standing Up for People with Differing Abilities: I have learned about the minimum wage, the smallest amount a company can pay a person. At Johnβs Crazy Socks, we pay more than the minimum wage. But there is a law that lets companies pay people with a disability less than minimum wage. Some people are paid as little as five cents an hour. This is wrong.
We have been working with the National Down Syndrome Society and the CEO Commission for Disability Employment to change this law. This week, it is coming close to passing in New York. My Dad wrote blog articles about it (here and here). And NBC NY News TV interviewed us for a story they ran last night. You can see that news clip here. We will keep fighting for people with differing abilities.
Summer Socks: It is finally getting hot, so I am wearing my summer socks. Some are athletic socks. Some are ankle socks. What socks do you wear in the summer?
You can see our summer socks here. We have socks to make you happy. Socks that make a difference.
I hope you have a great weekend.
