One thing I do as a travel person is set up alerts for flight deals from NYC airports, my home base. And today, just as I sat down to write this newsletter, I got this one: Nonstop from New York to Caribbean islands from only $215 round trip!
And sold. I love these islands. I grew up cruising them with my family, racing my sister to disembark each day to discover the next breathtaking beach or bustling little town, seeking out fish fries and new (to me) fruits and vegetables. Is it possible to have a serious relationship with callaloo?
I try to go to Jamaica every year (and if you’re near enough, take a boat to Floyd’s Pelican Bar, pictured above). But there is no island I wouldn’t willingly go to at the drop of a sun hat.
The food, the people, the culture, the music and, yes, the weather never fail to lure me in. It’s heaven on earth.
The Caribbean is calling. Better pick up!
