I just got back from Lisbon, Portugal (via Dublin, Ireland), where the 81F- (or 27C-) degree heat was giving me major “summer is coming” vibes – and I have the sunburn to prove it. Going from cold and damp Dublin to bright and balmy Lisbon was exactly the joyous jolt I needed to propel me into summer planning mode. (It was also a packing challenge that I totally aced.)
In that summertime spirit, I asked our Lonely Planet staff where they were planning to go this summer, and their responses run the gamut: rural lake escapes on Lake Michigan, mountainous Canadian National Parks, Greek islands, the remote Caribbean, stunning Mexico, the beaches and lakes of India, and some European greatest hits, including Paris and Tuscany.
I hope our summer trips inspire you to plan your own – be it solo, with family, friends, partners, colleagues, kids. Now go book those summer holidays, people!
