| This week: You can make it here!
| | | When I travel and people ask where I’m from, I say New York City – not the US. Everyone everywhere knows NYC, and after living here for 10 years, I’m confident there’s no place like it: its lively neighborhoods, world-class museums, famous parks. And don’t even get me started on the food.
One of my favorite views of NYC's iconic skyline is from the road leading up to the Lincoln Tunnel, which connects New Jersey to the city. Before I moved here, I used to take the bus into the city, and would eagerly await the view of Manhattan's skyscrapers appearing seemingly out of nowhere. This view became a beacon to me – a sign we were driving toward endless possibilities. Even after a decade, I still get chills on this drive.
Am I romanticizing it? Sure, but there’s a reason people move to NYC to find themselves and get outside their comfort zones. If you’ve been here before, you’ll understand. And if you haven’t, I hope you’ll give us a chance to wow you. | | | | | Walk the length of Manhattan in 35k steps | Spend the day strolling the entire stretch of NYC’s best-known borough. Is it a full day on your feet? Yes. Is it the absolute best way to see the city? Also yes. | | | | | Where to eat and drink in Manhattan | Bagels, pizza, every cuisine you can imagine from every corner of the globe...whatever you’re craving, Manhattan’s got a spot for it. Remember to make reservations in advance. | | | | | Should you visit Manhattan or Brooklyn? | While it’s a debate no one will ever win, we still had two writers make the case for their home boroughs. Hear them out, then decide which speaks to you. And remember: you can always do both. | | | | | New York City’s best rooftop bars | Summer is rooftop season in NYC, and seeing the city from above is a must. Arrive early and grab a spot to watch the sun set, and those glittering lights come alive. | | | | Albania is welcoming more visitors than ever – and for good reason. It’s significantly less crowded than comparable destinations and has stunning mountain scenery, impressive castles and dreamy beaches to relax on for hours. | | | | | Share with a fellow travel lover by forwarding to a friend. | | | | Photography by: iStock; iStock; Ann Douglas Lott/Lonely Planet; iStock; Beekman Tower; iStock | This email was sent to you by: Lonely Planet Publications Ltd. | 1101 Red Ventures Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29707 | | | |
