What do airplanes have to do with Earth Month? |
Here’s the scoop: Food loss and waste generate 8-10% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions—almost 5 times that of the entire aviation sector*! Luckily, that makes reducing wasted food one of the most effective ways to fight climate change, and we happen to know a thing or two about that. In honor of Earth Month, we’re putting all of our best, brightest, and heavily discounted rescue buys in one easy-to-shop aisle.
|
What exactly does it mean when we “rescue” an item? Sometimes it’s just that a cucumber was on the curvy side, or an apple was a little larger than usual, but we also rescue groceries with outdated packaging or upcoming best-by dates. Learn about all the reasons why we rescue, then hit our Earth Month aisle!

Rescue of the week: Tazzy candies |
They say “outdated packaging,” we say “vintage.” When we heard that Tazzy Candy was giving its packaging a new look, we were happy to scoop up what remained of the old design at a discount. When the savings (and the candies!) are this sweet, who cares what the outside looks like? |
