Somehow it’s almost time for us to say goodbye to Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys!
The exhibition has been called “groundbreaking” (NBC Nightly News), “big-hearted” (Washington Post), and “a testament to [Black artists’] resilience, creativity, and unwavering spirit” (BNN Breaking).
From Nina Chanel Abney to Lorna Simpson to Jamel Shabazz to Meleko Mokgosi—the list of brilliant, canon-expanding artists goes on and on. Come see them at the Brooklyn Museum before the show closes!
(Hot tip: Giants will be open a little later during closing weekend so you can get the most out of this exhibition. On Friday, July 5, and Saturday, July 6, you can see this show from 11 am–8 pm.)
Brooklyn Talks: Artists on Giants
Thursday, June 20, 7–9 pm
Celebrate the release of the publication Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys in a conversation with featured artists Jarvis Boyland and Jamel Shabazz, moderated by curator Kimberli Gant.
The book illustrates 100 works by nearly 40 Black American, African, and African diasporic artists represented in the Dean Collection.
In this video series, Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys answer our burning questions: How do they go about collecting art? What do they look for? Who inspires them, and who are the giants in the Dean Collection?
By becoming a Brooklyn Museum Member, you give back to your community and support art and artists in the process.
