Hi [Name],
It’s Scott Harrison, Founder and CEO of charity: water.
Over these last few weeks, I’ve been reflecting on what it really means to show up — not just when it’s convenient, but when it counts most. From the generosity of supporters like you to the tireless efforts of our local partners, this community keeps reminding me what showing up truly means.
Earlier this year, our team visited a community in Tigray, Ethiopia, where a woman passed around a small bucket of water she’d collected from a nearby river. Three green leeches squirmed inside.
During the conflict in Tigray from 2020 to 2022, many water points in the region were destroyed, forcing people — especially women and young girls — to rely on unsafe sources like this river.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you and the relentless commitment of our local partner’s maintenance teams, those water points have since been restored. Clean water is flowing again. As the bucket was passed back to her, the woman told us: “You saved our lives. You are our family.”
This is what your generosity means to communities halfway around the world.
Right now, we’re working to fund clean water for 13,087 more people by the end of this year — and we need your help.
Will you give the gift of clean water? Only $240 can bring six people — an entire family — access to clean drinking water. It takes less than 30 seconds to give on our website, and as always, 100% of your gift will directly fund clean water: charitywater.org/donate
Thank you for continuing to show up. Your generosity matters more than you know.
