"The Senate Commerce Committee will hold a hearing today (Thursday, July 11th) at 10am EDT centered on privacy-related concerns stemming from the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). The hearing will examine how AI has 'accelerated the need for a federal comprehensive privacy law,' according to the committee announcement."

The Privacy Commissioner of Canada conducted a privacy review of more than 1,000 websites and mobile apps, and the results are in: 97% were using one or more deceptive design patterns to try and influence people into giving away more of their personal information. Upsettingly, these patterns were often worst among apps and sites geared toward children.
