- Big Tech's Ad Transparency Tools Are Still Woeful, Mozilla Research Report Finds [techcrunch.com]
It's been about six months since the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA) ruled that larger platforms such as Apple, Google, Meta, TikTok and X "offer a searchable public ads library," but progress is slow. A report from Mozilla shows "platforms’ ad oversight tools are falling short of delivering the intended transparency and democratic accountability in a critical year for elections globally."

- Senators Seek to Curb Facial Recognition at Airports, Citing Privacy Concerns [nytimes.com]
Due to privacy concerns, "a bipartisan group of senators is pushing to halt the expansion of facial recognition technology at airports in the United States and restrict its use as part of the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill." Luke Broadwater reports.
- FTC Cracks Down on Telehealth Addiction Service Monument for Sharing Health Data [themarkup.org]
The Federal Trade Commission is cracking down on digital health companies' misuse of personal health data. Most recently, they "took action against alcohol addiction telehealth company Monument" after it "revealed health information to third parties including Meta and Google without users’ consent... while misleading users into thinking their health data was kept confidential."
