Nicholas Hoult’s Superman Press Tour Style Is Villainously Good |
For Hollywood pundits and comic-book fanboys alike, there’s a lot riding on James Gunn’s Superman reboot, which arrives in theaters on July 10. For whatever it’s worth, Gunn himself is already mitigating that sort of cultural pressure. “This is not the riskiest endeavor in the world,” the filmmaker recently told GQ. “It doesn’t need to be as big of a situation as people are saying.”
In the new Superman, newcomer David Corenswet’s hero will once again face off against his canonical archnemesis, Lex Luthor, who is played by babyfaced industry vet Nicholas Hoult. And based on Hoult’s hot-blooded fashion choices during the Superman press tour, he seems to understand exactly the sort of attention (sartorial and otherwise) stars have to generate to make their movie a success.
For years, Hoult has worked with industry-veteran stylists Wendi and Nicole Ferreira, who dressed the actor in conspicuous leather pants, among other fashion-conscious pieces, during his Nosferatu press tour in December. For the Superman press tour, he enlisted the help of stylist Jason Bolden, whose client roster includes Michael B. Jordan, Aaron Pierre, and Dwyane Wade. So far, Bolden has been putting Hoult in sexier, cheekier ensembles that seem engineered to get fans riled up. Thus, a fashion baddie is born.
Can Hoult’s bad-boy blond hair and tricep-bearing ensembles catapult Superman to $700 million? Only one way to find out.
