| This week: Have a terrific trip on a truncated timeline | | | I just got back from an 11-day Mediterranean cruise with my mom (watch this space for more on that trip). Our ship embarked from Civitavecchia, the port from which cruises depart near Rome. I decided to take a day to myself before my mom arrived and have a brief Roman Holiday of my own.
It was a good call. I had about 24 hours on the ground, not including sleeping time. I packed in a lot of greatest hits and some excellent food (and a Negroni) on a pretty tight timeline, and I have the step count to prove it.
This extended layover reminded me that even short trips result in lifelong memories (and occasional hilarity). We have some excellent guidance on how to make the most of a brief stay, in places like Delhi, Budapest, Singapore and more. But first you should check out my perfect day in Rome.
