I wanted to take a moment to share the real story behind Scooch — not the pitch deck version, but the why that still drives me every single day.
Scooch wasn’t born from a business plan.
It started with a dog I didn’t want.
It was during the Covid lockdown. I had just come out of a tough startup exit and was navigating burnout, uncertainty, and the strange stillness of that time. My wife and kids had been begging to get a dog, and I kept saying no. We were too busy, too chaotic, and let’s be honest — I knew I’d end up doing all the work.
But eventually, I gave in. And that’s when Rio joined our family.
He turned out to be more than a dog. He became my sidekick, my walking companion, my quiet support in the middle of all the noise. But it was also through Rio that I noticed something: how broken pet care is.
Dogs can’t tell you what’s wrong.
Vet visits are expensive, vague, and reactive.
You’re left guessing — or Googling.
And I realised: I’d spent years working in human wellness, personalisation, and tech. Why couldn’t we use the same tools to help pets live healthier, longer lives?
That’s how Scooch was born — out of frustration, but also love. Out of seeing a gap in care, and feeling called to fill it.
Today, Scooch is an AI-powered pet health platform that helps dog parents stay proactive — combining smart diagnostics, functional supplements, daily nutrition, and a virtual AI assistant (named after Rio, of course) to guide you along the way.
It’s not just a business for me. It’s personal.
That’s also why I’m investing my own capital in this round — not just as a founder, but as someone who deeply believes in this mission and its impact.
If you feel connected to this vision, I’d love for you to join me.
