In 2017, Stumptown provided seed money for an organic compost system designed by Eber to improve soil health and productivity on the farm, with additional funding in 2018 to replicate that compost project on eight other farms in the association. Since then, 30 producers have constructed compost facilities on their farms, making their own nutrient-rich compost using coffee cherry pulp, kitchen scraps, and other organic materials—and the project continues to gain interest.
Today, the Finca Churupampa Producers Association has 200 members—all growing organic coffee without chemical herbicides or pesticides. This year's lot has notes of baked apple complemented by juicy peach and warm spice.
We're in love with this coffee. And with just one sip, you'll see why.
