Hi,
Four months. Four 100-mile races.
Ultra-runner Tara Warren wanted to become the first woman to complete the Rocky Mountain Slam since 2016 by running back-to-back: Bighorn 100, Hardrock 100, Wasatch 100 and The Bear 100.
After the first two races she was feeling like something wasn’t clicking. She wrote to us and told us, “I felt sluggish…like that ‘last gear’ wasn’t there.”
She asked for help and recommendations and it turned out she was taking in too much sodium.
We swapped in SiS Beta Fuel to her nutrition protocol and at The Bear 100, her final race and the one that would earn her the Rocky Mountain Slam, Tara found that missing gear. Everything clicked.
Here’s how Warren Fueled.
She took in between 60-90g of carbs per hour using UCAN gels, PF&H 90, Victus and Skratch High Carb drink mix, adding SiS Beta Fuel for the last 2 races.
Only 8 other women have ever completed the Slam since it started back in 1999.
Warren did it all in honor of her mom, who was diagnosed with ALS, and recently passed away.
In the last race, The Bear 100, bruised and covered in dust, she crossed the finish line to the cheers of friends and family with a time of 29 hours and 28 minutes. It was the same race her mother once cheered for her.
Congratulations, Tara!
