Hi,
I’ve been counting the days to share this news: Maurten Bicarb is finally back. After being sold out for almost all of 2025 our warehouse confirmed this morning it has landed.
One thing is clear: Bicarb is everywhere right now. David Roche swears by it—and just won the Leadville Trail 100 Run yesterday. Every team I spoke with at the Tour de France is on it. And if you look at the top five HYROX competitors, they’re not just training with Bicarb, they’re 100% relying on it come race day
It’s no secret that ingesting 12g to 25g of Sodium Bicarbonate helps buffer pH levels in working muscles, reducing the burning sensation and allowing you to push harder for longer. It’s so effective that the IOC lists it as one of the few “legal and effective” performance boosters.
The problem historically with traditional bicarb was that most people would end up in the bushes rather than at the finish line. Maurten has solved this issue for most athletes (though not all—more on that below), and it’s been a game-changer.
Three important things to keep in mind:
1. Test it out in training. Before your big day, I recommend using it once a week for three weeks during a hard workout. It works for most athletes, but not everyone can avoid stomach issues.
2. You’ll experience some temporary water retention the next day. Most athletes use it for one-day events, or selectively, like during the Tour—not every day.
3. One mistake I’ve made is not ensuring I consume all the hydrogel with the bicarbonate pills—you really need both to help shield your stomach from the bicarb.
You can use our calculator here to determine the right initial amount, from 12g to 25g of Bicarb.
You get 3 servings in a box (approximately $15 per serving). Yes, it’s pricey, but considering what you’re already investing in your big race day or marathon, it’s the best $15 you can spend. Compared to your $300 carbon-plated shoes, the performance boost from Bicarb is unmatched.
Is it worth trying? Absolutely.
You don’t need to be aiming for a world record. This is about achieving your personal best.
Give it a try here.
