Before clean water came to her community in Mozambique, 15-year-old Natalia struggled to balance everything on her plate. Her days started early. By 4:30 AM, she needed to be in line at the local water supply, a hand-dug hole in the riverbed outside her village. By the time she finished collecting water — a process that could take hours — it was often too late to make it to school. She usually managed to get to class once per week, twice if she was lucky.
But now, with access to clean water, Natalia is able to go to school every day. And she has her sights set on her biggest dream yet: Finishing her education and becoming a headmaster.
This is what Sleep for Water is about. Being able to use your dreams, your sleep, your rest and use it to help make the dreams of Natalia and millions of girls just like her not just possible, but actually attainable.
We’ve tried to make it as easy as, well, sleeping. It takes 30 seconds, and all you have to do is:
1. Track your average night’s sleep
2. Donate a few cents per hour of sleep
3. Rest easy, knowing you’re changing the world each night
