It’s been just over two weeks since we launched our Sleep For Water initiative, and we wanted to let you know how it’s going so far.
At the end of the day, Sleep For Water is just another way to think about monthly giving — which is one of the most powerful ways of funding clean water projects. Anyone who chose to Sleep For Water became part of something much bigger than a fun campaign: They joined a community called The Spring, which brings clean water to a whopping 37,771 people every single month.
In the last few days alone, that community welcomed 236 new members, who either chose to donate their hours of sleep or simply joined The Spring with a monthly gift.
As a result, by World Water Day next year, there will be 1,350 more people who have access to the clean, safe drinking water they’ve been dreaming of.
The impact on those 1,350 lives will be instant, and enormous. Anyone who says change doesn’t happen overnight hasn’t seen what happens in a community when clean water starts flowing. From one day to the next, lives are transformed — and that’s especially true for young girls. With restored health and hours of their time reclaimed each week, they’ll be right where they belong: in the classroom, learning and connecting with their classmates and dreaming of brighter futures.
