Hi [Name],
Today is World Water Day.
And this year, we’re doing something different. Instead of asking you to watch a bunch of videos, or donate once… we have a very different idea.
Today, we’re asking for your sleep. We want you to Sleep For Water.
Which might have you wondering: what does sleep have to do with the water crisis?
Quite a bit, actually.
First, there’s the sleep sacrificed by young girls whose daily chores include walking for water. I’ve met girls as young as 6 who have to wake up at the crack of dawn, or earlier, to begin collecting water.
Or think about the sleep lost by parents anxious about their children’s wellbeing.
As a dad, I can relate. My wife and I have spent nights tossing and turning as we take care of our three kids — praying for their health and their friendships. And in places without clean water, the worry never goes away.
In the communities where we work, it can be near-impossible to get a good night’s sleep when your family lacks access to life's most basic need.
So with Sleep for Water, we’re inviting you to turn your sleep into water.
All you have to do is calculate roughly how much you sleep each night, and commit to donating just pennies per hour of sleep.
That’s it. From that point on, every night you sleep, that sleep turns into clean water for people in need. And each morning, you’ll wake up to a world in which more people have the clean water they’ve been dreaming of.
We made a fun video over at sleepforwater.com, and it takes less than 30 seconds to start changing the world in your sleep.
