This week: When life gives you ruins, take selfies | Venture where time stands still
| It was the summer I turned 12 that I climbed the Pyramid of the Sun (which you can't do anymore) in Teotihuacán in Mexico and questioned the nature of time. From there, I went on to explore the Temples of Angkor and felt, as I watched the sunrise over the central temple, a kind of kinship with the ancient culture that created such awe-inspiring devotion to their gods. I later visited Ephesus and saw how much knowledge has been gathered, kept and handed down. In Rapa Nui, I learned how even when exact details are lost, the culture is ever-present. But in Mexico City, I knew that the power of these past cultures would always refuse erasure.
