Someday I will buy a Sprinter van, and my casually itinerant lifestyle will become less casual. Circumnavigating New Zealand in a camper van changed me. Turns out that staying in a holiday park outside Auckland allowed me a city break and the freedom of fresh air and natural spaces that I crave. I used that tip to park myself in a glamping resort outside Santa Barbara for an incredible weekend of wine tasting, and believe me, I’m planning to do the same in San Francisco – did you know you can camp in the Presidio?
Here’s what I’ve learned: blankets of stars are the most comfortable, a warm campfire inspires the deepest conversations, and mornings are gentler in a tent (or van).
So when my colleague Aoife Breslin posted about exploring Switzerland in a campervan in our just-back-from Slack channel, I had to have all the details. She wrote it up for us all to enjoy, dream about and start planning!
