| This week: I could totally live here
| | | Much of my time on vacation is spent wandering through cobbled streets and food markets, telling my husband, “We should move here.” I’ll look at properties in estate agent windows, I’ll download Duolingo, and then I’ll return to reality for another year.
But many people do take that leap: packing up lives and families to start afresh in another country.
One person who has done it is Deirdre McGlone. She moved to Southwest France from Donegal in Ireland four years ago and has not looked back. She and her husband Marc purchased an old mill in the Lot region and now rent it out to small groups. She shared some advice for those who dream of making the big move:
“Visit your desired destination many times before making the move. Understand the reason or reasons for moving. Visualize what it’s like to live there all year round – not just for a summer holiday.”
