And the Premieres Keep Coming! |
|
This marks our Festival mid-point, and though we’ve already experienced so much, there’s still more to come. Today The Wedding Banquet, Love, Brooklyn, Khartoum, Sugar Babies, Zodiac Killer Project, and Free Leonard Peltier will premiere. Due to popular demand, many screenings are sold out. But tickets are still available for GEN_, Sorry, Baby, and BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions, which we are overjoyed to welcome back to the Festival lineup with its world premiere today. Plus, our Short Film Program 3 gets underway today. Catch the short films from our first two programs with a Short Films Pass: Online and watch them on demand.
If the films you want to see in person are sold out, don’t worry. Just hop on the waitlist. Tickets may become available! Or check to see if you can view films on your must-watch list online. A selection of titles — including all competition films — will be available during the online portion of Fest, beginning January 30.
During those moments you aren’t tucked in a theater, stop by today’s events, including From Green Sets to Great Stories: Filmmaking in a Changing Climate, Sundance ASCAP Music Café, Creating Positive Community Actions in Response to Powerful Documentary Films, and Filmmaker as Changemaker.
Plus, check out CBS’s Sunday Morning “The Spirit of Sundance” article where Glenn Close, Michelle Satter, Ed Harris, and Sean Wang discuss the magic of the Institute and Festival.

In her Meet the Artist presented by Acura episode, Holder discusses what drew her to Love, Brooklyn and why the story feels familiar, yet original. |

Standing Ovations and a Drag Show on Day 4 |
|
Kiss of the Spider Woman premiered to a sold-out audience at Eccles Theatre, and the film’s stars, including Jennifer Lopez, who received a standing ovation, Diego Luna, and Tonatiuh, were in the building! At the debut of Spanish Colombian writer-director Gala del Sol’s tropical-punk fantasy Rains Over Babel, one of the film’s stars surprised the audience with a fierce drag show. And at our Cinema Café series presented by Audible, The Wedding Banquet star Lily Gladstone and Atropia’s Alia Shawkat came together at the Filmmaker Lodge for an intriguing chat.
